| The Sarnia Hotels Group is a long established family owned group of three hotels all located in prime locations in St. Peter Port Guernsey, Channel Islands. All of our Guernsey hotels are AA 3 star registered. Why the name "Sarnia"? - This was the Roman name for the Island of Guernsey, and many Guernsey companies incorporate "Sarnia" in their company names. The story of the Sarnia Hotels Guernsey began in 1956 when Jack and Ella Parker, and their daughter and son in law Sheila and Andre Sendlhofer first managed Moores Hotel in Guernsey. At that time the hotel was leased from Bucktrouts, a prominent Guernsey company. In 1971, Sarnia Hotels acquired Hotel de Havelet, which has always enjoyed an excellent reputation for good food, and now boasts two fine restaurants. A very attractive indoor swimming pool has been added to the hotel along with additional bedrooms, making Hotel de Havelet a favourite holiday choice for a stay at any time of the year. The Sendlhofer family purchased Moores Hotel in 1978, and over the past 20 years have invested in additional accommodation including several luxury Suites, an Austrian style Patisserie, a very attractive Conservatory Restaurant and a small Leisure suite. Moores Hotel's location in the very heart of St. Peter Port, Guernsey's picturesque capital has ensured it remains first choice for business guests seeking accommodation. Most recently, Sarnia Hotels acquired Les Rocquettes Hotel in 1996. In the past ten years Les Rocquettes Hotel has grown from quite a small hotel to one with over 50 bedrooms, excellent leisure facilities and a purpose built meeting conference room. Located within walking distance of St. Peter Port, Les Rocquettes Hotel is proving to be another popular venue for short break holidays and business guests. The Sarnia Hotels Group Guernsey continues to be a family owned company, with the third generation Michael and Karel Harris, currently joint managing directors. The company's success and popularity within Guernsey is due in no small part to the loyalty of many of its hotel managers, some of whom have been with the company almost since its inception. |
